How is the Body in Carbon (BinC) made?

Aptera’s specialized composite bodies, known as Body in Carbon (BinC), are produced by CPC Group at their state-of-the-art facility in Modena. As Europe’s leading composite manufacturer, CPC is trusted by prestigious brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, and BMW. The BINC structure consists of only six main parts, primarily crafted from Carbon Fiber Sheet Molding Compound (CF-SMC) and Glass Sheet Molding Compound (SMC).

This lightweight and recyclable material is press-molded, which significantly reduces both manufacturing time and the CO2 lifecycle associated with production. Unlike conventional vehicles that require numerous components for their bodies, the simplicity of BINC, with its six main parts, leads to less material usage and a more efficient assembly process. Furthermore, all components are bonded together without screws, enhancing durability while minimizing complexity.
